01

Look inside the word

ReadPals treats high-frequency words as words to study, not shapes to guess. Regular parts can be sounded out; an unusual part gets extra attention.

02

Practise online without making an account

Open the set and begin. Use the cards for a quick practice round rather than as a reading assessment.

03

Take the same words offline

Print this collection for a five-minute warm-up, a word wall pocket or a simple matching activity.

A five-minute routine

Keep practice small and specific

Stop while the reading still feels successful. A few careful turns with five cards are more useful than rushing through the whole pack.

  1. 1

    Work with five words

Small groups keep the practice quick. Read each word together before asking the child to try independently.

  2. 2

    Notice the tricky part

Talk about which letters behave as expected and which part must be remembered. Then read the whole word smoothly.

  3. 3

Put the word in a phrase

Move beyond isolated cards with a short phrase such as “to the dog” or “we can”. Context helps the word become useful.
